Wade Named SCSU Alumni Director | Education

Royal Bulldog Matthew Wade has been appointed Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Fund at South Carolina State University.

He received a BA in History from South Carolina State University in 2017. He then completed his Master of Arts in Higher Education/Student Affairs from Purdue University Global in 2019. He is attending Capella University for a PhD in Higher Education Leadership.

“I am part of SC State, and I have high hopes of being in a place that is relevant enough not only to talk to older alumni, but also enough to talk to younger alumni.” Wade said. “So I believe I am in that space and I believe it will be a great journey for me and my alumni relationship.”

Wade is responsible for implementing a progressive Annual Fund program designed to increase donations from SC alumni, administrators, faculty, local businesses and industry. He also oversees the planning and execution of alumni and alumni activities related to Homecoming, Founder’s Day, Alumni, and Graduation Ceremonies.

With his new position and experience at SC State University, Wade is confident that he will be well positioned to meet the needs of all graduates. He plans to conduct a survey to find out which events his alumni would like to attend. We hope this will lead to higher engagement results.

He also develops student class-based programs to promote philanthropic activities among students.

“One of the things we’re looking to start is a pre-alumni council. This will be an organization that will help teach students the importance of philanthropy and what it means to be a good alum.” he said.
