Thilo Kehler: West Ham submits offer for Paris Saint-Germain defender | Football News

West Ham have made an offer to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thilo Kehrer.

The 25-year-old Germany international, who can play at right-back and centre-back, has been identified as a defensive target by the Hammers.

West Ham are awaiting a response from the Ligue 1 champions and could pursue other options if no agreement is reached.

Koehler has a year left on his contract and his acquisition would be a welcome defensive addition to David Moyes’ team in the midst of an injury crisis.

The Hammers only had one centre-back, Kurt Zuma, but he deservedly deserved Sunday’s Premier League loss to Manchester City.

With 20 caps for Germany, Koehler joined PSG from Schalke in 2018 and won seven major honours, including three Ligue 1 titles during his time at the Parc des Princes.

‘Koehler would be a great acquisition’

European football expert Andy Brussel told Sky Sports News:

“He wants to be 11th in Germany for the World Cup, so he’s a player who definitely wants to play now, so he has to move.

“Most likely, PSG will find a player at a wage like his, even though he only has a year left on his contract. It’s very difficult to shift, but his intention is to leave.

“We were told a few weeks ago that he seemed to have agreed a deal with Sevilla.

“I think it’s great for West Ham. He’s been a decent looking player at PSG without causing a stir in the world, but he’s exceeded a lot of expectations, especially in the last year and a half. We’re looking to get him out.

“He’s still showing up, he’s really professional, he’s training hard, he’s been good at centre-back and right-back when he’s playing, but at the moment he doesn’t have a chance at PSG.”
