
Randolph — Randolph Academy has hired Dr. Kristin Glass-Johnson as its new Director of Curriculum and Special Education.
Garaas-Johnson joins the 2 Campus District where he recently served as Principal and Supervisor of the LoGuidice Educational Center at Erie 2 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES where he has been since 2020.
In her responsibilities, Garaas-Johnson will work with the administration team to ensure that all students receive appropriate program support, including related services, behavioral assessments, and action planning. She also helps bring in new students to the district.
In addition, Garaas-Johnson supports the building principals in the day-to-day operations of the district’s Randolph and Hamburg campuses while helping professional and support staff implement best practices in collaboration and instructional design.
Randolph Academy Superintendent Daniel Cook said: “Many of our students have unique needs, and her background and research interests align well with those needs.”
With a PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota, Garaas-Johnson has over 20 years of experience in traditional and special education. Before he joined BOCES, he was the Education Director and Principal of the Gustavus Adolphus Learning Center in Jamestown. The center provided trauma-informed education to students with significant learning challenges.

I am excited to add and experience to the senior management team to increase the chances of our students becoming successful learners and one day as adults and professionals.”
Garaas-Johnson’s career also includes roles such as Vice Principal of the Research Institute at St. Joseph’s University in Buffalo. He has taught at the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School and several school districts in North Dakota, Colorado and Minnesota. He has held adjunct and assistant faculty positions at Trocaire College, North Dakota State University, and Minnesota State University-Moorhead. He is an educational consultant and leads an external review team for school system accreditation.
Garaas-Johnson holds a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University at Moorhead, a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English from North Dakota State University, and an Associate’s degree in Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities from Minot State University.
She grew up in Fargo, North Dakota and now lives in Fredonia with her husband, Craig, two daughters, and two rescued Chihuahuas.
