
An anonymous man from northern Kentucky claimed $1 million in last Friday’s Mega Millions drawing.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, winning tickets for the August 5 Mega Millions drawing were purchased at Kroger’s store on Dixie Highway in Erlanger. After taxes, he plans to walk away with his $710,000 and buy a business with the winnings, according to lottery officials. Kroger will receive a $10,000 bonus on the sale of winning tickets.
The man’s winning ticket was matched with 5 white balls, but not with the Mega Ball. Even though he didn’t hit the jackpot, he still won $1 million. He bought his $20 ticket with 10 pairs of numbers and decided to let the Quick Pick terminal select his number. The first set of numbers on line A tickets wins.
He returned to the Kroger store where he originally purchased the ticket, scanned it again for verification, and arrived at the lottery headquarters in Louisville on Tuesday, according to lottery officials.
