The Wichita-Kansas Leadership Center (KLC) provides workforce development grants to organizations throughout Kansas to help create a culture of embracing change, tackling problems, and seizing opportunities. Applications are now being accepted for KLC’s 2023 Leadership Transformation Grant Program.
“KLC has been providing grants to civic organizations across the state for the past eight years, and we look forward to helping them make lasting progress on their biggest challenges.” This is just one of the many ways KLC provides training to develop leadership in a healthier and more prosperous Kansas community,” said Kay Monk, KLC Chief Impact Officer and Teacher. Morgan says.
Derby City Government received Leadership Transformation Grants in 2016, 2021 and 2022, providing opportunities to train a large number of employees and provide them with essential leadership tools.
“The grant provided an opportunity for more employees to participate in leadership training with the aim of creating a leadership culture that embraces change, tackles issues, and seizes opportunities. It’s about enabling people to create adaptive mindsets, work together to solve problems, and focus on better listening and communication,” said Jenny Turner, Director of Human Resources at Derby.
“[Among] Other benefits of the training are that it helps participants learn the importance of engaging key stakeholders and identifying different perspectives,” Turner said. , often dealing with situations where multiple stakeholders and very different perspectives exist, this training is relevant to what personnel face when faced with difficult situations.”
Organizations that receive a Leadership Transformation Grant establish a core team of three to six individuals with responsibility for the grant. The selected organization will be given one year to participate in KLC’s dynamic program experience and take advantage of KLC’s resources and consulting.
“The Leadership Transformation Grant enables you to participate in the KLC Path. The KLC Path is a three-step process that teaches that leadership is an activity, not a role, and that anyone in an organization can lead effectively. These programs provide a framework in which organizations can share a common language and skills to tackle challenges and empower employees to mobilize others to create organizational and community progress.
