INSPIRE event at NSWC PCD ignites culture of leadership, diversity and innovation > Naval Sea Systems Command > Saved News Module

Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) devoted a full day to educating and challenging its employees to create and maintain a diverse and innovative work environment. INSPIRE: Igniting a Culture of Leadership and Innovation Event held at Gulf Coast State University on August 9th.

Inspire It is the first leadership in a diverse environmental event hosted by the Naval Research Laboratory. NSWC PCD Command Strategic Advisor Lisa Tindell noted that the event acts as a catalyst for positive change.

“The event was designed to expand employee understanding of inclusion and diversity, navigating difficult conversations, empowering others, and the importance of unity.” As we become more diverse, it is important that everyone respects each other’s similarities and differences.Leadership and employees respect each other’s differences, create an inclusive culture, and leverage the benefits that diversity brings. Our dedication to doing so will only help us create and sustain innovative solutions for the U.S. Navy.”

At the event, four guest speakers educated attendees and provided practical application steps to help leaders explore and expand their impact.

Speakers provided perspectives and tools to open channels of understanding in the areas of leadership, diversity, and inclusion through neuroscience, emotional intelligence training, or the use of practical leadership strategies.

INSPIRE also aligns with one of the strategic objectives of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Warfare Center. “Correct culture/values”— By striving to be inclusive and engaging as a culture of One Team collaboration.
