About the Charlotte Arts and Culture Program
The Charlotte Arts and Culture Plan demonstrates how to ensure the sustainability and growth of the local creative sector in the years to come. Specifically:
-
Develop a long-term vision and short-term plan to sustainably fund and nurture the arts and culture sector and serve the wider community through arts and culture.
-
Position the sector as an economic and tourism engine.
-
Supports collaboration between creative individuals and organizations.
-
Promote fairness and inclusivity.
Work is underway as the Cultural Planning team collects data and listens to diverse communities across the Charlotte area. The plan is expected to be completed in the spring of 2023.
Additional cultural planning events will run through October. A calendar of events open to the public is available on the plan’s web page and will continue to be updated.
In addition to the event, the planning team participates in existing meetings in communities throughout the city and county to ensure the plan engages a diverse population, especially those who historically tend to be underrepresented in planning efforts. to
