Will there be extra time in the second round of the Carabao Cup?

The second round will play out similarly to the previous round, with a single-elimination knockout round match requiring a winner on the night.

However, if both teams are tied after 90 minutes, it will proceed to two rounds of penalty kicks. Extra time does not come into effect until the 2-leg semi-final stage. There, 30 minutes of extra time will be played if clubs are tied on aggregate at the end of the second leg of the semi-final. If there is no winner in extra time, a penalty shootout will determine the winner of the semi-finals.

The tournament final at Wembley Stadium will also include extra time and penalties if required. They were active in the Liverpool vs. Chelsea final of the latest edition. There, the goalkeeper tried in the penalty shootout as the shootout ended 11–10 in Liverpool’s favor.
