The draw for the second round of the Carabao Cup will take place on Wednesday night, with Premier League clubs not participating in European competition expected to take on lower-tier rivals. That means teams like Everton, Southampton and Newcastle He United, plus his three newly promoted teams.
It was Liverpool who triumphed at Wembley last season, beating Chelsea on penalties to claim a record ninth League Cup title. They and other teams playing in Europe enter the competition from the third-round stage, so there is one more hurdle to navigate if teams in the EFL want a big game against the best teams in the country.
Eight first round ties will be played on the eve of the draw, with the 35 first round winners joining Burnley, Watford and the 13 Premier League teams participating from this point forward. In the second round, draws will be held in the North and South sections to reduce travel costs and time.

There are some juicy matches in the second round, especially for some lower league clubs. Newcastle-hosting Tranmere and Everton-welcoming Fleetwood are two of his standouts in the Northern section.
