Over the past few weeks, the nation has collectively listened to ESPN’s documentary series. captainWhile fans relive Derek Jeter’s historic career, the New York Yankees legend looks ahead.
Jeter is staying away from baseball more than ever. Instead of spending his days at the stadium, the 48-year-old’s schedule revolves around his family and business. But the attention to detail that drove Jeter to Cooperstown is now helping his new company disrupt the performance-his apparel industry.
This year, Jeter and UNTUCKit founder Chris Riccobono teamed up with American Ballet Theater principal dancer Misty Copeland and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky to launch Greatness Wins. This upstart brand specializes in athletic clothing for the modern day athlete.
Over the course of 20 seasons, Jeter has performed with an undeniable level of confidence. The captain’s calm demeanor never wavered because he did his job. The five-time World Series champion now leads a new star-studded team through a competitive marketplace. Greatness Wins is the latest example of Jeter’s commitment to excellence.
What inspired you and UNTUCKit founder Chris Riccobono (along with Misty Copeland and Wayne Gretzky) to team up on Greatness Wins?
“I always had different ideas about what could be improved with Athletic Space products. Chris brings 10 years of e-commerce experience as the founder of UNTUCKit and a passion for building and creating unique apparel companies. .
Partnering with Misty and Wayne was a no-brainer. Next Women’s Misty was the first female athlete who came to mind completely when we talked about who would lead her line. She has a great story and work ethic and truly defines what greatness means. As a “great man”, Wayne focuses on our golf line and takes that category to the next level. ”
The high performance sportswear market is highly competitive. What are the features of Greatness Wins?
“We fill a unique niche in the fabrics we use and in our price range. Our garments are designed with innovative technical fabrics that are durable, wash well, and actually last. Greatness Wins is more about quality, fit and performance than anything else…”
I read that the goal is to move away from athleisure trends and focus more on performance. Do you think durability is an area other brands are lacking?
“We place a very high priority on performance and making products that stand up to high performance demands. We also rigorously test every aspect of our fabrics, including pilling, abrasion resistance and shrinkage.” QUALITY, PERFORMANCE AND FIT For us, maintaining a consistent fit is not just the first fit, but wash after wear.”

Have you ever wished Greatness Wins were in play?
“I think as athletes we always want the best, so it would be great to have access to what we are creating here at Greatness Wins during our baseball careers. I never would have been able to when I was playing. It’s really important to me to pay as much attention to the company as I can now and to be involved at that high level.”
What is your day-to-day role within the company? You don’t seem to be a bystander type of partner.
“On a daily basis, I am deeply involved in the design process of each collection, working closely with the design team on the overall vision and goals of the brand, as well as the marketing strategy for the line going forward. It’s an exciting idea.”
The company is expanding rapidly. We have a women’s collection that will be released in Spring 2023. What do you think the future holds for Greatness Wins?
“We are excited about the vision Misty and the team have for their women’s line Greatness Wins and want to continue to grow in both men’s and women’s lines in a purposeful way.
Throughout, we remain very focused on our core mission of providing the highest quality performance items, but there is tremendous potential for growth when it comes to styles, products, and the sports areas we focus on. audience needs. ”
This is an unfair question. You were part of his five World Series championship teams. Are there any that stand out from the rest?
“It’s like asking someone what their favorite child’s name is. Even if you have a child, you never say it out loud.”
Last question, do you have any advice for sleep-deprived dads?
“Get used to it! I think we’ll all be sleep-deprived for a while! But I think we can all feel pretty lucky as to why we’re sleep-deprived. Being a father is a special kind.” of joy.”
