What is the first thing to do when looking for a new business service? You may google them. Over 60% of customers check Google reviews online before going to the store. Not surprisingly, they want to check what others have experienced in your company before committing to you.

That’s why Google reviews are so important that you need to focus on getting them. When you search for a store or service on Google, the first thing you’ll see is a review and average rating for your store or service. If these aren’t good, potential customers may go elsewhere.

What is a Google review?

Google Reviews are business reviews that you leave on Google Platform. Reviews are one of the first things you’ll see when someone searches for a store or service on Google or finds directions on Google Maps.

All you need to leave a review is a Google account, which is a free service. Google’s popularity as a search engine and Google Maps means that these reviews are much more widely read than reviews on websites like Trustpilot.

Why Google Reviews Are Important

People pay attention to reviews on the platform because Google is the most used and trusted search engine. Google reviews are important for the following reasons:

  • They raise the profile of your business online. If they see good reviews, people are more likely to visit your website or your business.
  • They are useful for search engine optimization. If Google determines that you have a good review, Google will determine that you are popular and provide a good experience to your customers and will be ranked high in search engine results. As a result, good reviews will improve your relevance. Google’s algorithms are dedicated to providing the most relevant results to searchers, so good reviews will improve your ranking.
  • Star ratings based on average ratings are displayed under your company name in Google Business Profile. If you have 4 or 5 stars, this will bring more people to click on your business list.
  • They allow you to receive essential feedback about your company. Customer feedback can help you understand how your business is perceived by others and identify areas for improvement.
  • Good reviews increase brand credibility. People trust Google, so they trust the reviews in your Google Business Profile.

It is important to monitor reviews regularly. If you notice recurring customer service issues or other complaints, you can fix them to improve the customer experience.

How to get and reply to Google reviews

1. Set up a Google My Business account

The first thing to do is apply for a Google Business Profile. If you were a few years ago, you’ll already appear on google maps and local search-you may already have some reviews.

The more you claim and optimize your business profile, the easier it will be for people to find you and leave reviews. Method is as follows.

  • Google search for the name of your company.
  • Click “Do you own this business?” button. This will take you to the claim area of your Google Business Profile.
  • Then Google needs to confirm your business. Once verified, you can make changes to your profile.
  • You can add a photo and description of your business. Be sure to include some keywords and phrases that are relevant to your business. However, do not overload the keywords or use irrelevant ones. This may penalize you.

2. Request customer reviews

Customers are usually encouraged to write reviews only if they have a negative experience. This means that getting a lot of great reviews is not something you can leave by chance. The first focus is to provide excellent service for you to have happy customers. Then ask the customer if they want to leave a review on Google. This can be done by email or text. We recommend that you include a link to your business profile for easy access to your customers.

Please consider the timing carefully. Don’t wait a few weeks after a customer buys from you. Otherwise, it can be out of the customer’s mind. We encourage you to request a review immediately after someone purchases from you. Approach them when you think they are free to write reviews. Try it first in the morning or last in the afternoon. We suggest providing a template for review as needed.

You can also automate this process on your e-commerce platform so that review requests are automatically sent after your customers make a purchase.

Finally, never buy a review. If Google doubts this to you, you will be punished and pushed down in the rankings.

3. Explain to customers how to leave a review

Some customers don’t know how to leave a review, so it’s worth explaining the process. They will have to:

  • Log in to your Gmail account
  • Search your business via Google or Google Maps
  • Click on the review section
  • Write a comment and select the number of stars
  • Press “Post”

4. Thanks to the customer for leaving a review

We encourage you to reply to the reviews. Thanking customers for good reviews shows that they care about what they think of you and thank their business. If you have a negative review, responding in a non-defensive and open way shows that you are willing to do things right and take responsibility for your mistakes.

5. Share the Google review link

Send a link to your business page to help your customers leave reviews. You can do this in the following ways:

  • Go to Google Place ID Finder
  • Enter your company name in the Enter location box
  • Select a company from the drop-down list
  • Copy the place ID link

How to remove bad reviews

You may receive reviews that you find unfair or inaccurate. You can report this review by flagging it as inappropriate. Don’t expect Google to remove a review just because it’s negative, as Google will only remove it if it violates one of its policies.

If the review is simply a dissatisfied customer, instead of reporting it, try replying to the review and sorting out the reviewer’s issues. If you do, ask your customers to delete or edit the review. Speed is important, so check Google’s reviews regularly.

Don’t let Google reviews happen by accident

Google reviews are important. They give your business credibility, increase your CTR, and help your ranking.

For these reasons, it’s important to pay attention to Google reviews of your business. Leave good reviews, monitor reviews, and encourage customers to reply, good or bad.
