Road to CFB is the trip of a lifetime to experience a game at every Division I college football stadium in the country. As of 2022, there are 131 items on the list and the number continues to grow.
131 different towns, 131 different campuses, 131 different cultures, and thousands of different traditions. And I am very much looking forward to sharing those experiences with you.
From big cities like Austin and Los Angeles to the most remote college towns like Pullman and Starkville, my goal is to experience game day. please give me. I’m here to share what it’s like to watch the game from the stands. This includes the best bars, the most unique traditions and the most exciting tailgates.
What does it feel like to be a fan of State University for a day?
Road to CFB: the beginning
In the fall of 2015, I was a freshman at Bowling Green State University. Part of the freshman experience is signing up for whoever and whatever the school offered a location on the fan bus to travel to see the Falcons play at Purdue.
Despite growing up a die-hard Ohio State fan, I had never been to a college football game.
We did the 4 hour trek through the corn fields to West Lafayette (bonus points if you can point them on the map). The moment I got off the bus, I was overwhelmed by my five senses. It’s the smell of charcoal on the barbecue grill, the cheer and excitement at the tailgate, and the overall explosiveness of the Big Ten Saturday air.
We were sitting near the field in the end zone of Ross Aid Stadium. It was pine-like and aromatic, perfectly complementing the uniform brick building and campus pines.
There’s a Purdue band with the biggest drums in the world. This wasn’t an NFL game. There was a lot to take in and enjoy. Even the chants, the band and the PA announcer were in a state of euphoria unlike anything I’ve felt outside a college football stadium.
On top of that, Bowling Green upset Purdue and ran the game-winning touchdown with nine seconds remaining. But that was the only play I remember.
Since that September day, I’ve been chasing the highest price in the game.

Many sports fans have a to-do list. Visit every stadium in MLB or watch every home game of your favorite team. For me, there was no contemplating what I wanted.
I officially decided to continue this journey in 2018. It started with a trip to visit every stadium, empty or full. Empty stadiums are cool (I still chase them), but it wasn’t game day. And so the road to CFB was born.
Since then, Attended matches at over 30 different venues and visited a total of 104No two are exactly alike, and each takes me back to that afternoon in 2015.
I’ve been from schools as big as Texas to schools as small as Kent. Schools cannot (and do not want to) replicate each other, resulting in an endless chain of excitement and surprises.
Really, no sport compares.
Here’s a list of all the games I’ve played so far.
