Professor Jasmine Young, MBA, Appointed Director of Howard University Business School Warner Music/Bravatnik Center for Music & Entertainment Business

Washington – of Warner Music / Blavatnik Center for Music & Entertainment Business and Howard University Business School Excited to welcome Jasmine Young, MBA, as its director. The Bravatnik Center offers a prospective student her one-year fellowship, providing the knowledge and materials necessary to pursue a career in the music and entertainment industry.

As a Howard alumnus who began his career in the music industry through an internship at Def Jam Records, Young looks forward to helping bring new opportunities to students at his alma mater.

“My coveted internship at Def Jam Records many years ago really set the course and foundation for my career. We were also able to provide opportunities for our creative and executive leaders,” says Young. “Our pioneering program prepares students for success in the music and entertainment industry. Our goal is to provide mentorship and training to create the next generation of innovative entertainment executives. .”

The Bravatnik Center Julian Petty, JD, a Howard alumnus and head of business and legal affairs at Warner Music. The center was funded thanks to his $4.9 million donation from the Warner Music Group/Bravatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund (WMG/BFF SJF).

The center is one of many outreach projects pursued by WMG/BFF SJF. Founded in June 2020, it is a response to the recent killings of black Americans that have sparked social justice protests. The fund invests in organizations around the world that build more equitable communities with grants focused on education, criminal justice and the arts to make that change. The center will help prepare Howard’s diverse student body for management positions in the music business and provide space for curriculum development and certification programs.

The Fellowship Program works with influential partner organizations to provide fellows with coaching, specialized curriculum, mentorship, and hands-on industry experience. The center also offers engaging programs that are open to all members of Howard University and the wider community. This includes guest lectures, business case contests, and more.

Young brings nearly 30 years of management, marketing and education experience to his new role. Shortly after she graduated from Howard University in 1994, she was hired by Def Jam Records.
