NASCAR Verizon 200 at Brickyard: Tyler Reddick Wins in Overtime

The NASCAR Cup Series I wrapped up my schedule for July on Sunday Verizon 200 at the BrickyardWhere Tyler Reddick edgy ross chastain Just over half a second to secure the win in overtime.

The 2.5-mile, 160-lap race is returning for the first time since 2020 and only the second in Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 14-turn road course configuration.

Here are the top Indiana moments:

The entry into Turn 1 was five wide and it didn’t go well for everyone involved, especially Justin Haley.

Meanwhile, Reddick took the lead on the opening lap, with Chase Briscoe and Austin Sindrick battling for second place.

Chastain spun at Turn 1, followed by Denny Hamlin at Turn 6, causing further confusion early on. Both drivers were able to continue, but fell back to 29th and 32nd respectively.

Mayhem!

Things got off to a wild start and stayed that way until the first stage continued.

Chris Buescher’s No. 17 Ford burst into flames as it was brought onto pit road at the end of the stage.

Elsewhere, Chase Elliott spun into Turn 1 and went over the curb.

First win for Briscoe, opted to stay on track and score stage points to earn playoff points. He was followed by Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, William Byron and Elliott.

Briscoe went from the race lead to pit road and Blaney chose to take over the top spot.

Elsewhere, Kevin Harvick again ran into trouble at Turn 1, spinning in front of traffic thanks to Alex Bowman and being hit by Hamlin in the process of starting the second stage.

AJ Allmendinger entered a sand trap while Harrison Burton and Cole Custer spun at Turn 1.

Taken by Christopher Bell second stage winfollowed by Kyle Bush and Bubba Wallace.

Meanwhile, Reddick and Bell were in a neck and neck race as the third and final stages progressed.

The caution came out with 22 laps to go on this lap as Ty Dillon took a big hit to the right side of his car from Kyle Larson who lost his brakes entering Turn 1. Both drivers got out of their cars.

When Green Grad returned with 18 laps to go, the drivers did everything in their power to get ahead of their rivals. Reddick led Branny by 3.2 seconds with ten laps to go.

Elliott dove onto the inside of Blaney entering Turn 1 and took second place as the final few laps approached.

Bell blew his right front tire on the frontstretch and debris from his car littered the entire track, forcing a restart within five laps.

around where they go

The field rotated around Turn 1 as Reddick and Elliott were battling for the win on the front row. Bush, Briscoe and Byron were also caught in the crossfire and swung.

Then at turns 3 and 4 Eric Jones reversed and Austin Dillon was spun into a sandtrap by Martin Truex Jr. and the caution flag was raised again.

Reddick edged past Chastain to take the top spot in overtime and take the win.
