New York (AP) — Seven months after being fired by CNN, Chris Cuomo will make a public appearance on a new podcast and will rehost the Golden Time television show on NewsNation this fall.

Cuomo made the latter announcement at NewsNation on Tuesday. This is a new cable news outlet created by Nexstar Communications in 2020 as an alternative to WGN America. He was interviewed there by Dan Abrams, who hosts the Golden Time show.

“I’ve been jealous of you while I was away. I’m watching and wanting to help,” Cuomo told Abrams. “I want to find a way to help people.”

NewsNation said Wednesday that Alexandra “Dusty” Cohen, who spent 20 years behind the scenes of “The View,” will be Cuomo’s executive producer. The show’s name, time frame, and premiere date have not been announced.

Once CNN’s most popular prime-time personality, Cuomo hasn’t announced how much his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, is helping to survive the sexual harassment scandal. After that, he was fired in December.

In the first episode of “The Chris Cuomo Project,” which appeared on YouTube and podcast services last week, Cuomo said, “When it comes to CNN, I’ll never hate it.” However, he considered his firing unfair and asked his arbitrator to give him $ 125 million.

“This was a very heavy time for me personally,” Cuomo told Abrams. “I really didn’t know what was going on my way.”

Cuomo quoted a lawsuit in which he did not specifically answer some of Abrams’ questions about the circumstances surrounding his firing. “I’m telling you, I never lied, and there was no secret,” he said.

At NewsNation, he joins a network with the ambition to become a 24-hour news agency, but now broadcasts news in the morning and evening hours. Previously, MSNBC and Fox News’ Ashleigh Banfield and Leland Vittert broadcast golden-time shows, respectively.

According to Nielsen, last year’s network’s average prime-time viewership was 46,000, compared to CNN’s 1.1 million.

CNN has not nominated a full-time host to replace Cuomo in the eastern slot at 9 pm.

Cuomo’s bohemian YouTube show was filmed at his home. The first episode lasted two hours and included a 45-minute interview with actor Sean Penn through a video service. They talked about Penn’s Ukrainian documentary, and Cuomo also showed a video from his recent visit to the war zone.

“Thank you for checking in with me and my family and telling me to come back here,” Cuomo said in his opening monologue. “Thank you more than you can imagine.”

Until Wednesday afternoon, the “Chris Cuomo Project” was played over 47,000 times on YouTube in almost a week.

Cuomo told the listener, “More than ever, I’m talking to you as I … these words are just my own. Nobody tells me, even if it hits the ground. I’m not telling you to stay. “

Cuomo, the son and brother of two men who spent more than 20 years as Governor of New York, said he was not a Democrat. Or a Republican. He described it as an “anti-two-party system.”

He also revealed that his first vote voted for Republican President George HW Bush in 1988 when his father was governor.
