Quarterback training camp battle
Marcus Mariota vs. Desmond Rider
On the surface, Mariota feels like a quarterback on the Falcons Bridge until the rider shows that it’s worth the start. Both players need to provide similar value in the running game and facilitate the transition between the two options. The Falcons expect Mariota to be the starter of the first day, but the lack of victory can lead to a short trip to hold the clipboard. While his training camp progress has portrayed a positive situation, Lider needs more personnel to fill the gap in Atlanta’s quarterback race.

Training camp fight running back
Devin Single Tally vs. James Cook
Bills has rotated multiple backs this year, with each option offering different fantasy values over the long season. The single tally finished his career season (188/870/7, 228 yards with 40 catches, 1 score) but struggled to play important in the pass game (5.7 yards per catch). His style of play seems to be limited in opportunities and explosiveness. Moreover, he does not have a scoring advantage. Buffalo wants to take James Cook into space and take advantage of his speed and playmaking abilities. Much of his touch is script play or early down, as he wasn’t built to handle path protection early in his career. Cook has several qualities in line with Chris Johnson’s breakout season with the 2009 Titans. The battle here is between stability and the ceiling, but this combination can work well with the best ball formats.
Ezekiel Elliott vs. Tony Pollard
Coach speeches from Dallas have been very supportive of Elliott during the summer, but many fantasy draftsmen have teamed up to increase Polard’s role in 2022. Despite the early reports of the Cowboys, success on the field drives each player’s direction and chances. This situation is one of the most interesting situations that will continue this year. Elliott is an excellent draft value based on his early ranking (19th) in running back or an obvious trap. In any case, Polard should see enough touch to provide RB2 status in this season’s PPR league.
Aaron Jones vs AJ Dillon
Thanks to Packers’ suspicious wide receiver option, the words of Fantasy Street indicate that Jones is seeing a surge in catch in 2022. Both running backs are active and you can see at least 250 touches. Jones needs to move to a split roll in the run game, losing his sprint goalline carry to Dillion. The question that needs to be answered is whether Jones is still worth becoming the base RB1 and does Dillon generate enough stats to rank as a top 18 running back? Survivors are given the opportunity to be shocked if any option is injured once.
Wide receiver to train camp battles
Allen Lazard vs. Amari Rogers
With Christian Watson starting the year on the PUP list with recovery from a knee injury that required minor surgery, Green Bay’s top-class wide-out options continue to look thin. Lazard is a popular top receive option for packers, but the lack of front-line options creates an overdraft situation. After four weeks in July, nothing was written to rejuvenate Rogers. My position is that the players (Rogers) lined up outside the slots have the best chance of leading the team in catch. He’s draft and free, but I hope it will change soon in the next few weeks.

Mekor Hardman vs. Marquez Valdes-Scantling vs. Schemer
Winners of this competition have the opportunity to provide WR2 statistics at the Chiefs Offense. Moore is the new man in town and gives him the highest ranked ADP for their wide outs. However, due to a hamstring problem in July, he hurried early in the training camp. His route running isn’t ideal for a rookie, he seizes the opportunity on slants and screens and puts him in a big play threat on the outside. Valdes-Scantling flashed in OTA with Kansas City. He has the speed and speed to reach higher ceilings, but his hands weren’t the asset of his career (49.8% catch rate). I have something to say to recipients who have experience with the NFL’s attack system. I rate Hardman as a top option to win their WR2 job, but he may not see enough chances to rank among the top 36 wide receivers in 2022. There are no reports of moving the needle to Hardman’s draft value in late July.
Jarvis Laundry vs. Chris Olave
This fight is another interesting thing in the NFL this summer. Saints need to revive their pass-through attacks starting with better quarterback play. Laundry struggled with Browns last year, but his long-term resumption of success sets high catches. He has the talent to regain his shape in 2022. Olave has a smooth foundation on routes running at burning speeds. His versatile style guarantees a productive rookie season. Michael Thomas’ health and success are key factors in the 2022 Laundry and Orave goals.
Tight end training camp battle
Cameron Brate vs. Kyle Rudolph
Bucks continues to add veteran pieces to the attack to make another run in the Super Bowl under the guidance of eternal Tom Brady. The addition of Rudolph overshadows Tampa’s tight end opportunities. Last year he struggled with ankle problems and retreated his production (28/334/1). His scoring ability from 2016 to 2019 (25 touchdowns in 64 games) will help his playability. Over the last four years, Brate has averaged 31 catches with 282 yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately, even if he wins his first job in the first week, his ceiling is no longer fantasy-related. Tampa needs to rotate two top tight ends throughout the season.
