Trash and recycling bins can be home to tuberculosis, streptococci, staphylococci, E. coli, salmonella, and listeria. Family owned businesses work in the Poway area to keep the bins clean.

SD Happy Bins is run by Tony Oliva and Jesus Perrez. The partner, which started a year ago, provides residential trash cleaning services to local households.

“We do footwork,” Oliva said.

SD Happy Bins brings you trucks and trailers. Residents do not have to be home at that time.

“Not many people know about it. We’re trying to get the word out,” Oliva said.

Trash cleaning services are available at Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Rancho Penasquitos, 4S Ranch, Carmel Valley, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Black Mountain Ranch and Scripps Ranch. Oliva said he chose these locations because they were close to where he and his partner live. Oliva from Oceanside and Perez from Chula Vista.

“That’s why we’re staying in that particular zone,” he said.

The partners said their mission is to provide efficient and affordable curb bin cleaning services and protect residents from bacterial and fungal infections commonly found in trash cans.

Pricing options range from monthly to one-time. The monthly fee is $25 for the first bin and $10 for each additional bin.

Quarterly pricing is $35 for the first bin and $15 for each additional bin.

For one-time cleaning, the fee is $45 for the first bin and $20 for each additional bin.

Quarterly cleaning is the most popular, according to Oliva.

The business currently has no stores, they said.Interested parties can call 619.530.1627 Also 858.988.9056 Set an appointment. Another option is to visit www.sdhappybins.com.

“They are now finding us through Facebook and recommendations,” says Oliva. “It takes time to make.”

The cleaning process uses a 360° cleaning head to get into every nook and cranny, the owner said. It removes dirt and debris by spraying water at over 200 degrees Fahrenheit while combined with a disinfectant to kill purulent bacteria.

Happy Bins encourages you to clean out your trash and recycling bins. Because both can accumulate bacteria, viruses and germs. The first time can take up to five minutes, and subsequent maintenance appointments take no time, Oliva said.

Trash cleaning services will begin at the scheduled time and place. They will clean the cans on garbage collection days. Their trucks wash bins on the spot so customers don’t have to wait for return time, Oliva said, and their trucks can wash two containers at the same time.

After the bins are sanitized, the company deodorizes each container and places the bins in the desired location.

The partner got the business idea from a TikTok video he saw about two years ago. About a year ago they decided to get serious.

“That was what we had in mind. A year later we decided to do it,” Oliva said.
